Philanthropists Matthew and Hilary Rosenthal Commit Leadership Gift to Keeping the Promise Campaign

Philanthropists Matthew and Hilary Rosenthal Commit Leadership Gift to Keeping the Promise Campaign

Matthew and Hilary Rosenthal recently made a very generous $1 million gift to Keeping the Promise…The Campaign for Boca Raton Regional Hospital. This gift will name the new Epilepsy Medical Unit at Marcus Neuroscience Institute.

While both originally hail from the North, Matt from New York City and Hilary from Boston, they have a history that brings them full circle to not only South Florida but to Baptist Health. In fact, while all philanthropy is important, donations that come from a very personal place make the bond between Boca Raton Regional Hospital and a donor even more exceptional. It was Hilary’s great, great uncle, Arthur Vining Davis who donated the land and funds to build Baptist Hospital. When Davis made the gift, he requested that a pineapple fountain greet guests at the front door – a symbol of friendly and comfortable surroundings. The pineapple fountain and its meaning remain an important part of Baptist Health and now Boca Raton Regional Hospital as well.

“Boca Raton Regional Hospital is incredibly grateful for the remarkable support from the Rosenthals,” states Lincoln Mendez, North Region Executive for Baptist Health and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital. “As now full-time, year-round residents of Boca Raton, Matt and Hilary are stellar examples of the committed and generous neighbors we are so fortunate to be surrounded by in our community.”

As Matt and Hilary have explained, they moved to Boca Raton eight years ago with their young children for an excellent quality of life. They love living in Boca and they feel that it is important to have excellent healthcare in their own backyard. Having used the hospital on a few occasions, they have seen firsthand the excellent service and care that Boca Raton Regional Hospital strives to always provide. In addition, they have seen the remarkable growth in the hospital over the past eight years and wanted to be a part of this momentous expansion.

To the Rosenthals, this donation is even more meaningful. Hilary was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 18 and Matt surprised her with this gift to honor the strength that she possesses living with this condition. As a result, it is especially important to them that they are able to help be a part of the further expansion of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute.

“We recognized the compassion that drives Matthew and Hilary’s giving. In addition to Boca Raton Regional Hospital, they have endowed the Rosenthal Speaker Series at Congregation B’nai Israel and have funded the science classroom renovations at the Pine Crest School in Boca Raton,” explains Stan Barry, chairman of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation and co-chair of the Keeping the Promise campaign. “Their gifts have a personal importance and that is such a great driving factor in philanthropy. As donors, when Matt and Hilary look back at the impact they have made, there will be a connection that is unique to them and their family. We are so thankful and fortunate to be part of their generosity.”
